Productivity, Professional & Academic Achievements
Achieving success in your work requires much more than talent and knowledge. It requires dedication, focus on goals, discipline, perseverance… For all of this, you need to master yourself — that is the ultimate goal that brings success in any area.
It’s not hard to get motivated and start — it’s much harder to maintain continuity and be consistent for as long as it takes to achieve the desired results.
The deep work approach can help — an excellent and empirically proven way to maximize your productivity by eliminating all distractions and reaching a state of complete focus.
Psychotherapy can help you in your development, setting goals, creating strategies and tactics for achieving them, and maintaining focus.
Through achieving these goals, you will grow stronger, build self-confidence, acquire skills, and empower yourself to independently solve new challenges and achieve new goals that you set for yourself.
Questions & Answers
How do I overcome laziness?
We are all lazy. Our brains evolved to conserve energy so we could survive more easily in scarce conditions. The point is not to despair about our laziness, but to organize our lives so that the easiest choices are the right ones. For example, if I want to use my phone less, I should not keep it next to my bed; if I want to eat healthily, I should not keep a drawer full of sweets at home. This is called choice architecture, and it is exactly what we can learn and practice in therapy.
How can I stay motivated all the time?
It is hard to be motivated all the time, and it is completely normal to have bad days. More important than motivation is discipline — a routine that exists even on slower days. This is achieved by building habits. Try to always practice a new habit at a similar time, ideally in the first part of the day, and link it to an existing habit — for example, meditating right after brushing your teeth. Other tricks for building new habits can be explored in therapy.
How can I be more productive?
Deep work techniques can help — described by Cal Newport in his bestseller. They are based on the idea that a person organizes a part of their day with no interruptions (no phones, no social media) and enters a state of deep focus where they can accomplish in a short time what they have been unsuccessfully trying to do for days while being constantly distracted. In therapy, you can adopt these techniques to increase your productivity and sense of satisfaction with what you achieve.
